Frequently Asked Questions for Last Night's Meeting

  • What if I am not leader?
No matter what your space in life you are influencing others around you.  Whether in a formal leadership setting or just in the natural rhythm of every day life, the influence you have has made you a leader.  For the purposes of this course, we have sought you because you are a woman of influence who seeks after God and have the character and personality that make you a natural leader.

  • Is there a reading list?
We do not have a full reading list at this time.  There will be reading as a part of the homework at times.  However, there will also be books that will be suggested throughout the course as a supplement.
This fall we will be heavily using the content of the book "Clout" by Jenni Catrone which we highly recommend but do not require as reading.  If you read the book you will be more fully equipped as a leader who understands your influence over others in your life.

  • Is the homework really a "reasonable amount?"
We will expect that you are reading and journaling on a regular basis. In addition to this, the homework we will be asking of you will consist of 1-2 exercises that will prepare you for the upcoming month's topics. This will be able to be completed in one afternoon, or spread out into short sessions over the course of the month.

  • Am I expected to take on an official leadership position as a result of this course?
No.  This course is designed to help you recognize your influence and prepare you to answer God's call- wherever He takes you.

  • Is this going to be taking me away from my family more than once a month?
No.  We hope, however, that there are some natural relationships formed that give you the opportunity to extend life outside of the meeting times. There will also likely be a service opportunity once per year that you can choose participate in.

Welcome

We are so excited and blessed to going on this journey as we seek the Lord and grow in our gifts to serve the Lord. The Church Body is in need of leaders who are prepared to share, teach, equip and lead others to fulfill God’s greatest commandment - Loving Him and Loving others as ourselves. God has created women to fill a unique role in His Kingdom.  We felt this need so strongly that we wanted to see Mountain Springs Church prepare women as leaders, because the reality is that we are leaders in many spheres of our lives.  Women who use their God-centered influence will create a ripple effect in the Kingdom of God.

With this vision at the heart of ADLC, we will embark on this journey together! Our theme verse for ADLC comes from Hebrew 10:22-25:

"So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and good deeds."

Biographies

Rechelle Bringard

Rechelle was born here in Colorado, but as an Air Force brat, spent much of her young life moving. She came to Christ at the age of 17, and it changed her whole perspective on existence. Gone was the empty longing, replaced with a God-breathed purpose. The knowledge that she is fearfully and wonderfully made has shaped the trajectory of her life ever since. She met her husband Kevin in college while they were both attending Point Loma Nazarene University. In the early years of their marriage, before children, they enjoyed many opportunities to travel together, both for adventure and ministry. Currently her days are wrapped up in the ebb and flow of raising three young children to follow The Lord. One of Kevin and Rechelle’s principle goals is a home full of guests, laughter, and food. They share a passion for community, and thrive in relationships with Christians that challenge and encourage them to grow into the people God has created them to be.

Through her work as a Speech Pathologist, she found her passion in working closely in relationship with people to help them realize the power they always had within them. The development of this interpersonal connection became a catalyst to see women developed to be leaders in their churches and communities. Rechelle loves the beautiful role God has crafted for women in His Kingdom and desires to help others step into their place in His story. God has used her gifting to encourage and mentor others, serve on the Connect Team at MSC West, as a life group leader, children’s ministry lead, organize VBS for 2,000 children in India as well as her in her neighborhood, and she currently serves as a member of the Advanced Discipleship and Leadership Coaching Team.

ReneƩ Hogan

ReneĆ© Hogan was born in Stoughton, WI.  She didn’t stay there long as she has had at least 28 addresses in her lifetime taking her to all parts of the United States. With the number of lifetime moves, she has had the opportunity to visit all 50 states and a few countries as well!  In addition to her wanderlust, Renee’ has a passion for people, learning, teaching, and observing the world around her.  She thrives in her home with her husband, Ray, 4 kids, a dog, a gerbil, a mouse, and whoever happens to be resting their heads in her home.  Coming to the Hogans’ house is always an adventure with one never knowing who might be at the door or the dinner table –proof that people want relationship and the food is just a by-product of community.

Renee has a passion to teach Christians to see the world changed through an individual’s acknowledgment of her ability to impact the world right where she exists.  It is said that 95% of people would rather be in a coffin than speak at a funeral – her desire is to see that 5% of the population who are ready to stand up and lead, lead for Christ – this would flood our world with the love, passion, and the example of Christ.  Her life’s experiences as a division director of the March of Dimes, a sponsor of the Institute of Cultural Communicators, a leader of woman through various discipleship programs, as a Community Life Director at Mountain Springs Church West, and as a member of the Advanced Discipleship and Leadership Coaching Team have developed her recognition of one person’s impact on their spheres.

Karalyn Mullins
Karalyn Mullins is a native of Colorado. She was blessed to grow up in Colorado Springs with Christian family surrounding her. Karalyn met her husband when she was 18 as they worked side by side in youth ministry internships. They have been married nine years and have three wonderful and busy children. They have attended Mountain Springs Church for nine years and have been are currently a part of the West Campus family. She minored in Youth Ministry, feeling a call to part or full time ministry. God nurtured that passion and called Karalyn to teach high school in the public school. Over her decade of experience, Karalyn’s passion for human trafficking has led her to develop curriculum to empower students to use their strong voices to help those that have none. She has worked with leadership groups in developing Empathy Week and Eyes Wide Open at her school.

Karalyn’s love for literature extends outside the classroom to the story that God is telling throughout history. She is a firm believer in the power of story in the lives of individuals, families, nations and generations. God is weaving together the ultimate story of love and adventure. Karalyn desires to reach out to the broken places where people long and ache for something deeper, something bigger than themselves---God’s story. It is from this desire that Karalyn has been involved as a Young Life Leader, middle school and high school youth leader, Children’s Life volunteer, and currently serves on the team for Advanced Discipleship and Leadership Coaching.
